Proto Homes at Dwell on Design

The unofficial start of summer in LA comes in the form of Dwell on Design. This conference is such a great resource for relevant industry information, imaginative speakers and quality design. We are excited to let you know that Frank will be speaking on a Sustainability stage panels at the conference on Friday and Satuday, June 24-25. If you are interested in learning more about the process and thoughts behind Proto Homes, come and check it out!

PCBC Coming up!

We are excited to be heading into summer full force! Frank will be speaking at PCBC 2011 next week and it will be a great conference with some very influential members of the building community. Frank will be speaking on a panel as part of their Innovation Strategy Forum.

Spring- full of possibilities....

This past weekend was beautiful in LA- a mix of sun and blustery winds- with the feeling that spring is really here. So what are we planting? Hopefully some seeds of innovation, change and optimism! Ok, that was a bit too cute, but we are hopeful that this year will be full of growth and ideas. We are already seeing results sprouting all over, the product of ideas planted weeks, months, even years ago- welcome Spring!

And.......exhale

Yes, we have been MIA. All for good reason, though. We are in the midst of lots of exciting talks and potential partnerships that we can't wait to talk about! But for now, it's all covert ops. Wow, what a party! Thanks to all you revellers who braved the rain and drizzle and came out to make our party amazing. It was an awesome time celebrating the website launch and showing the first house to so many friends and colleagues, new and old! We are truly excited to be a part of something like Proto Homes. Here are just a few shots from the night, courtesy of the talented Carla Choy.

Getting ready to celebrate!

This next week or two will be filled with lots of exciting happenings- our first Proto Home will be unwrapped and brought into the public eye, we are meeting with lots of great design partners, and our amazing website is hours from launching! Whew. Enjoying the relative calm before the storm.

Already February?

Wow, January flew by! Missed posting- sorry! Lots going on here. We are gearing up for the soft launch of our website, thinking about and planning pr things, working on new designs and just staying super busy, in general. But, even if we are a little crazy, the house is always calm. Here are some shots from last week...

Sunnier Days!

 In the midst of all this crazy rain, it is hard to remember that it was sunny and amazing a little over a week ago. Here are some shots I took last week when the sun was still out....



Sunlight Frontage

This is the view from accross the street- now that our construction barriers are all down. It is great to see how it relates to the surrounding neighborhood, and how the landscaping is starting to fill in.

FLOR party!

We had a great time on Thursday night at the opening of the new FLOR showroom in Santa Monica. It is a great spot right accross from Santa Monica Place, and they have really done a great job of creating a place that is full of light, creativity and design potential. Lots of choices, which is great, considering that there is not a place currently in LA where you can see such a wide array of FLOR carpet tile options...

what a day!

 We had our photo shoot yesterday and it was so great. Just perfect weather (finally) and everything just flowed so well....Thanks to everybody for all the hard work. Lisa and Yolanda were great!!!! Just a couple sneak peaks for you all.....

The "urban meadow" is going in!

We are really excited to be working with Sean Knibb on our landscaping for Proto Homes....This is the first installation at our Sunlight residence and it is going to be beautiful!

Light and Color

We are hanging lights and painting like crazy. The photo shoot is next week and we are going over the house and picking up all the details......fun, and exciting to be this close to seeing this house become a home!

Fall light

The days are getting a little shorter and the house is gathering a few leaves and other signs of fall. The light is changing in the house and it makes it feel new all over again....
